This water bottle was created for "The Perfect Bottle" competition by S.C. Carpathian Springs S.A. This droplet design leverages proven materials and processes that are associated with other high end beverage categories (i.e. wine, spirits) to elevate the perception of quality, and it achieves it with simplicity and elegance. The soft, rounded top of the cork visually completes the droplet form, and provides enough surface area to grip and remove. The elongated neck and thicker glass at the base are in good proportional balance, and will provide adequate weight and size to control while pouring.
The inspiration for the design was to create a shape that celebrates water in it's purest, most familiar form. The shape of a droplet of water is identifiable by all people and is a positive expression of the most essential human element. The rationale is that the drinker will not only taste the purity, but see the purity. This design delivers this metaphor by giving you a droplet captured in a bottle.
All materials considered are earth friendly: recyclable glass, cork, and foil label using a water-based adhesive.
The metallic foil label, while primarily designed as a tamper-proof mechanism, provides a nice luxurious surface for branding. The user will hear the tear when opening and a “pop” associated with wine/champagne.
The thicker glass base is a feature seen on fine drinkware but not common on water bottle designs. This will not only provide the heft of a quality bottle, but it visually accentuates the droplet aesthetic.
